So I had this issue wherein my CD of Linux Mint Debian Edition only loaded to the command line. A few folks from last night’s LALUG gathering (very successful – two new folks!) looked at it and couldn’t figure it out. One suggestion was that perhaps I’d downloaded a server edition. That would have been about right.

Well. In my enthusiasm, what I downloaded was the first release candidate for LXDE 11. In the notes for RC2 (released yesterday)? This:

Changes since RC1:
GDM replaces LXDM as the default login manager (this addresses the sporadic issue of X not loading from the live session)

Ah. Well then.
